Key Issues to Watch
- Coastal Erosion: The bluffs along the Atlantic continue to erode, threatening properties and infrastructure. The Highland Light relocation in 1996 foreshadowed ongoing challenges. [NPS β Coastal Erosion]
- Short-Term Rentals & Housing: North Truro has a high concentration of seasonal and vacation properties. Year-round housing is scarce. Truro’s rental regulations directly impact this area. [Truro Select Board]
- Water Infrastructure: Truro is developing a public water system. North Truro properties will be affected by phased infrastructure buildout. [Water Resources Committee]
- National Seashore Land Management: Federal regulations govern much of North Truro. Development restrictions and beach access policies are shaped by the NPS relationship. [Cape Cod National Seashore]
