History & Overview
East Dennis is a picturesque village on the north (Cape Cod Bay) side of the Town of Dennis, bordering Brewster to the east. Like neighboring Dennis Village, East Dennis developed around the maritime economy in the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of the grand houses along Route 6A in East Dennis were built by successful sea captains, and the village retains a strong connection to that heritage today.
Sesuit Harbor, located at the northern tip of East Dennis, has been a working harbor since the earliest days of settlement. Today it serves as the town's primary marina, with slips for recreational boats, charter fishing operations, and a popular boat launch. The harbor area includes Sesuit Neck, a narrow peninsula extending into Cape Cod Bay.
East Dennis is quieter and more residential than the south-side villages. The village center, near the intersection of Route 6A and Sesuit Neck Road, features the Jacob Sears Memorial Library, the East Dennis Oyster Pond, and several antique shops. The Cape Cod Bay beaches here — including Chapin Memorial Beach — are among the finest on the Cape, with dramatic tidal flats at low tide.

Sesuit Harbor & Marina
The town's primary marina and boat launch, located at the end of Bridge Street on Sesuit Neck. Slips for recreational and commercial vessels, charter fishing boats, and seasonal waterfront dining at the Sesuit Harbor Cafe.
Jacob Sears Memorial Library
A beautiful community library in the heart of East Dennis village. Part of the CLAMS library network. Programs for all ages, free Wi-Fi, meeting space, and a children's room. A true village gathering place.
Route 6A — Old King's Highway
East Dennis's stretch of Route 6A is lined with sea captain's homes, antique shops, and small businesses. Part of the Old King's Highway Historic District, one of the oldest scenic roads in America.
Crowe's Pasture Conservation Area
A large conservation area at the end of South Street with trails leading through fields, pine forest, and out to Quivett Neck and Cape Cod Bay. One of the best hiking and dog-walking areas in Dennis. Spectacular bay views.
East Dennis Oyster Pond
A scenic tidal pond near the village center, historically used for oyster cultivation. Walking paths around the pond offer views of the salt marsh ecosystem. A quiet landmark of the village's maritime past.

🌊 Chapin Memorial Beach
One of the finest Cape Cod Bay beaches. At low tide, the sand flats extend far offshore — perfect for walking, shell-collecting, and horseshoe crab spotting. Resident beach sticker required. Restrooms available. 4WD access with permit.
🌊 Cold Storage Beach
A beautiful Cape Cod Bay beach at the end of Cold Storage Road near Sesuit Harbor. Warm bay waters, spectacular sunsets, and tidal flats at low tide. Resident sticker required for parking.
🌊 Sesuit Neck Beach
A small beach along the harbor neck. Less formal than Chapin or Cold Storage, offering a quiet spot for walking and watching boats come and go at Sesuit Harbor.
