History & Overview
Osterville is an affluent coastal village in the southern part of the Town of Barnstable, situated between Centerville and Cotuit on Nantucket Sound. The village has been a desirable residential community since the 19th century, when wealthy families from Boston and New York built summer estates along the waterfront.
Today, Osterville retains its reputation as one of Cape Cod's most upscale villages. The charming village center along Main Street features boutique shops, restaurants, and the Osterville Village Library. Dowses Beach, at the end of East Bay Road, is consistently ranked among the Cape's best beaches. Crosby Yacht Yard, one of the oldest boatyards in America (established 1850), is a landmark on the harbor.

Features the Cammett House, a historic sea captain's home, plus a boat shop with a collection of Crosby catboats — the iconic Cape Cod sailboat designed right here in Osterville. The Crosby family built boats in this village for over a century.
Dowses Beach
A beautiful Nantucket Sound beach with calm, warm water and stunning sunset views. Popular with families. Town beach sticker required in summer. The approach road through East Bay is one of the most scenic drives in the village.
