History & Overview
Cotuit is a small, charming village at the southwestern corner of the Town of Barnstable. Situated on Cotuit Bay, an inlet of Nantucket Sound, the village has been known for its oyster beds since the 1800s. Cotuit oysters gained national fame and were prized by restaurants from Boston to New York.
The village retains a quintessential New England character with tree-lined streets, a small village center, the Freedom Hall historic building, and the Cotuit Center for the Arts. The Cotuit Kettleers, part of the Cape Cod Baseball League, play their home games at Lowell Park β bringing summer baseball to the village.
