🏛️ About the Planning Board: The Barnstable Planning Board reviews and approves development proposals, administers zoning regulations, and guides long-range land use planning. The board plays a critical role in managing growth across Barnstable’s seven villages, particularly as sewer expansion opens new areas to development.

What the Planning Board Does

🗺️ Zoning & Subdivisions

Reviews subdivision plans, site plans, and special permits. Administers zoning bylaws and recommends amendments to the Town Council.

📋 Development Review

Evaluates development proposals for compliance with zoning regulations, environmental standards, and community impact.

🏘️ Comprehensive Planning

Develops and maintains the Local Comprehensive Plan (LCP), the town’s blueprint for land use, housing, and growth.

🌿 Environmental Review

Considers environmental impacts of development, including water quality, traffic, and neighborhood character.

Meetings & Resources

The Planning Board meets as needed to review development applications and zoning matters. Public hearings are held on significant proposals.
