Senator Markey has served in Congress since 1976 β first in the House of Representatives for 37 years, then in the Senate since 2013. He is one of the most experienced legislators on energy, telecommunications, and environmental policy in the country. He authored landmark internet neutrality legislation and the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
